Landscape Visualization
Client: DWY Landscape Architecture
Service: 3D Renderings
Deliverables: 10 Conceptual Renderings, 6 Final Renderings
The Challenge
DWY Landscape Architecture was designing a massive 1.3-acre residential property and needed a way to clearly communicate their vision to the homeowner. The client requested 10 conceptual renderings up front, followed by 5–6 final renderings once the design direction was approved.
The original design embraced a bold, lush “Florida jungle” aesthetic—full of layered, tropical plantings. While stunning from a design perspective, it was unclear whether this vision aligned with the homeowner’s personal taste.
The Process
I created 10 conceptual 3D renderings that showcased the layout, scale, and density of the planting design—without focusing on high-level detail or photorealism. The goal at this stage was to communicate the overall feeling of the space and gather early feedback.
Seeing the renderings, the client quickly realized the look was more dense and tropical than she had envisioned. That insight allowed the landscape architect to pivot before investing further in refining the wrong direction.
The Outcome
By visualizing the design in 3D early in the process, the team avoided costly misunderstandings and saved time on revisions. The client was able to clearly articulate what she liked—and didn’t—and the final result was a landscape that felt perfectly tailored to her vision.
The Takeaway
3D renderings do more than make a design look good—they build trust and clarity between designer and client. They help uncover preferences, guide design decisions, and ensure everyone is aligned before the shovel hits the dirt. That’s how you turn clients into raving fans.
